RULES
- Each month there is a memory verse connect to their current unit. This means Juniors can memorize up to 8 memory verses connected to their lessons a year.
- Each month there is a randomly selected bonus memory verse not connected to lessons. This brings the grand total up to 16 memory verses.
- Students can memorize using any Bible translation they desire. NIV is recommended and is most often used on the webpage/curriculum/handouts.
- To receive "points" students will tell Amanda (or another leader running the canteen) any of the verses for the current month during the first 15 minutes of youth nights. After 7:15 no submissions will be accepted. This purposely gives students arriving on time and attending youth regularly an advantage. Merge is the exception, no memory submissions will be accepted during Merge nights.
- For every verse students correctly memorize and share with the leader, they will receive slip of paper, an entry which they write their name on and enter into the draw.
- Students can submit 1 entry for every verse that month once during each youth night. But the end of the month is the cut off for those verses and they can no longer be submitted. So, for example, during the month of December there will be 2 memory verses and 3 youth nights where memory verses can be submitted. That means there is a total of 6 possible entries per student for the month of December.
- The max. number of entries a student can earn this year is 42. This would require reciting every verse for the month on every possible youth night. This is *nearly* impossible -- just try your best!
- At the end of the school year, on June 8th, there will be a draw for prizes. The more entries a student has, the greater their chances. There will be a number a prizes -- including Movie Theatre Gift Cards, Hashtag Hope Merch, books, outings with leaders, chances to "pie leaders in the face," etc. The first student drawn picks the prize they want, the second student drawn picks afterwards, and so on until there are no prizes left.
- At the end of each month in the Newsletter and on the church bulletin board we will post a "leaderboard" counting the Top 3 Jr. High and Top 3 Sr. High for memorization points, just for some healthy competition!
- The Top 3 memorizers at the end of the year will receive medals!
- Additionally, all the student will work together to accumulate points. As the youth group wide total surpasses certain milestones, the entire youth group will receive awards! (see below)
- Every two months students will receive a take home with the memorization verses, and they will be posted online here.
